Your healthy travel checklist…Whether work or play, there are some simple hacks to feel your best whilst on the road. Let’s rapid fire this one so you can keep packing and get on your way!

QUICK GUIDE TO TRAVEL NUTRITION AND HEALTH:
1. HYDRATE. Feeling wiped on the other side of a short or long journey can be better managed by improved hydration throughout. Whether long haul flights/long car journeys, aim to keep on top of water intake to support your body’s natural physical processes, energy levels and bowels movements too. Travel constipation (let’s address this straight up) can be shifted with increased hydration and fibre rich foods. Constipation can be present with changes in time zones as well because of the impact on your circadian rhythm and digestion. I always pack prunes and water bottle.

2. MOVEMENT. Walk around at pit stops, rotate arms around (windmills), stretch, have a quick game of chase with the kids, or walk around the airport and pump up your step count when in transit. Once you land, try to maintain your commitment to 30 minutes of movement that you love each day.

3. PACK STAPLES in your bag/accom such as fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds etc these are a game changer if you’re a frequent traveller/know that you’ll be on the road for the while. It’s easy to lean on highly processed foods that are everywhere but if you set yourself up with some basics then you’ll undoubtedly feel better for it.

4. NERVOUS SYSTEM + SLEEP SUPPORT such as sleep herbs, minerals and sleepy tea for the evenings have been a genuine game changer for me whilst travelling. Valerian root, passionflower and magnesium are the where it’s at. I’ll be honest, I also pack my favourite black leaf tea for the mornings when I travel too – sets me up for the day!

5. YOU TIME scheduled in. Holiday or work, carve the white space in the day, we all need it. Simmers an overactive nervous system that comes with travel.
